SUMMARY:San Diego Environment Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The City of San Diego Environment Committee meeting will discuss a motorized boating ban in Northeast Mission Bay.  We strongly oppose this ban and need our Friends of Campland supporters to attend the meeting. \nWhat’s at Stake: The City’s proposed De Anza Natural plan would result in an outright ban on motorized boating in Northeast Mission Bay\, cutting off access to boaters\, visitors\, residents\, and campers without proper studies or public input. This would set a dangerous precedent for other hasty bans on boating and coastal access throughout Mission Bay! \nThe Solution: Actual analysis and public input are essential. Instead of unchecked bans that disproportionately impact non-hotel guests\, the City should study sustainable measures that protect wildlife and recreational access\, similar to how other areas of Mission Bay are treated! \nIf you can attend\, RSVP here. \nSpeakers Needed \nIf you feel strongly about this boating ban\, be a speaker.  We need you to show up early to the meeting to fill out a speaker slip. \nCan’t attend the meeting in person? \nYou can also attend via web conference.  Click here to view instructions. \nDid you Send a Letter to City Officials to Defend Motorized Boating?  \nIf you can’t attend the March 14 meeting\, please write a letter to City officials.  Click here to send your letter. \nWe’ve made it quick and easy with a pre-filled letter.  You are welcome to add your comments to the letter.

SUMMARY:City of San Diego Planning Commission Hearing - De Anza
DESCRIPTION:The City of San Diego Planning Commission will host a hearing to review the final environmental study on the De Anza Natural Plan.  We need Friends of Campland’s support at this meeting.  All the alternatives being considered reduce the number of campsites available in Mission Bay.  We have not attended any City Planning meetings in the past\, so this will be the first time the committee hears from Friends of Campland. \nThis is an important meeting. Please plan on attending and wear your Friends of Campland shirts. \nWhat is at stake for Northeast Mission Bay:\n\n– Loss of campsites. The De Anza Natural Plan significantly reduces the acreage and amenities currently available for camping.\n– Loss of motorized water sports.  The plan contemplates eliminating motorized boating from De Anza Cove\, directly impacting campers. The public boat ramp will be removed\, and Mission Bay Boat & Ski Club will lose its current location.\n– Loss of Sporting Fields and Golf – The plan reduces acreage for youth athletics at a time when improved and expanded facilities are needed for a growing community. Let the City Planners know that you support the preservation of waterfront camping\, motorized boating\, and youth athletics.\n\nSpeakers Needed\nLet us know if you’d like to speak up by emailing us.Click Here to Volunteer as a Speak by Sending us an Email \nPlease watch your emails for more information. \nAttend the Meeting\nWhere:  City Administration Building – 12th Floor\n202 C Street\nSan Diego\, CA. 92101 \nTime: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm \n RSVP to Attend \nPlan on attending! We need our Friends of Campland members to show up in force at this meeting. \nJoin the Meeting Online\nIf you can’t attend in person\, it is possible to attend via Zoom: \nThe link to join the City Planning meeting via webinar by Computer\, Tablet or Smartphone is: \nhttps://sandiego.zoomgov.com/j/1612210047 \nTo Join by Telephone Dial 1-669-254 5252 or (Toll-Free) 1-833-568-8864 \nWhen prompted\, input Webinar ID: 161 221 0047 \nHere are specific instructions if you’d like to speak via the online meeting.

SUMMARY:Special Ad Hoc Committee Meeting for De Anza Natural Plan featuring Campland
DESCRIPTION:In response to this public outcry\, a special Ad Hoc committee was formed to hear further public input on the De Anza Natural Plan. The committee comprises three San Diego Parks & Recreation Board Members\, three Mission Bay Park Committee members\, and a representative from the Mission Bay Lessees Association. \nOn Tuesday\, June 20\, they will focus on two of these organizations: \n1.          Campland on the Bay \n2.          Mission Bay Boat & Ski Club \nWe really need the support of our Friends of Campland members at this meeting.  We’ll keep you posted on the details.  Please hold the date if you can attend. \nRecently\, both the San Diego Parks & Recreation Board and the Mission Bay Park Committee hosted meetings regarding the City’s De Anza Natural Plan.  To their surprise\, the public showed up in droves for these meetings and joined our Friends of Campland members to express concerns about the plan and the need to preserve recreation and camping options for families. \nWe will need your presence and volunteers to speak and let this committee know: \n\nHow important Campland on the Bay is to you\nWhy they need to make sure the same amount of camping is protected in any new plans.\n\nWear your Friends of Campland shirts.  If you don’t have one\, we will have them available for free before the meeting. \nWHERE:  Paradise Point Resort\, the Sunset Room \n1440 Vacation Road\, San Diego \nTIME:       6:00 PM \n \nWe Need Speakers \nWe need volunteers to speak and tell the committee why Campland is so important to you and why they need to keep the same amount of waterfront camping along Mission Bay. Please consider speaking if you can. \nPlease come early if you plan on speaking so you can turn in a speaker form.

SUMMARY:Full City Council Meeting & Vote on Approval
DESCRIPTION:WE NEED YOUR ATTENDANCE! \nThis is it!  Our most important meeting as City Council will either approve or deny the De Anza Short-Term Improvement & Repair Project. This project will be very beneficial to both the City\, the Mission Bay environment\, and Campland on the Bay.
