PROTECT CAMPING ON MISSION BAY
Our mission is to save camping along the shores of Mission Bay for future generations.
Many of us have come to grow and love Campland on the Bay. When we heard about redevelopment plans that might now include camping on Mission Bay, we knew we had to do something. We formed this group of concerned campers with the sole purpose of saving Campland on the Bay and the ability to camp along the shores of scenic Mission Bay.
What’s At Stake
City of San Diego is considering future plans to reshape northeast Mission Bay Park. Unfortunately, as part of the process, the amount of waterfront camping spaces is being re-evaluated and could possibly even be reduced. At the same time, Campland’s future is also uncertain, and a separate process is underway to study turning Campland’s current property into marsh.
What does this all mean? In a nutshell, the existence of Campland – and access to waterfront camping as we know it today – is at stake and will be determined by these critical City planning decisions.

We will let you know as soon as the next City meeting is set.
Please show your support by joining us for the next City meeting. Normally, Friends of Campland members will meet at Campland prior to the meeting for some food and beverages. We’ll then go together to the City Meeting on the Campland Bus wearing our yellow “Friends of Campland” T-shirts. We like to let our presence be known.
If you’d prefer to meet us at the City Meeting, that is fine too. We will keep you posted on the when and where.
